Diani Beach is a white sandy Indian Ocean beach about 30 kilometers long on the southeast coast of Kenya and has been named one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world several times in a row in recent years. The beach and the town of the same name are located about 30 to 35 kilometers south of the port city of Mombasa and is the tourist center of the south coast.
The area around Diani Beach is one of the safest regions in East Africa. and our resort is located only 10 minutes walk from the beach.
In front of the beach are reefs that both keep away the sharks and break the waves of the sea. The reefs are popular diving areas. The nearest town is Ukunda with an airport for domestic flights, which many tourists use for arrivals and departures, as it is located just off Diani Beach. It is located about 10 minutes by car from our resort.
Diani Beach is located in the remains of the coastal Jadini Forest. This is home to Kenya’s largest population of Angola st ubby monkeys, or colobus monkeys as the locals call this primate species. Information about their protection is provided by the Nature Conservation Center of the Colobustrust. Among other things, it erects rope ladder-like suspension bridges, the so-called “colobridges”, with the help of which the animals can safely cross roads. These can be found again and again along Diani Beach Road.
Throughout the area live several species of monkeys such as bushbabies, vervet monkeys (they are simply called “monkeys” by the locals), colobus (Angola stubby monkeys) and baboons, which are called baboons in Kenya.
Shopping facilities such as Diani Beach Shopping Centre, Chandarana Shopping Centre with Mama Lucy’s fresh fruit and vegetable market and Carrefour are located between 5 and 10 km from the resort Forest Dream and can be reached by car or tuk-tuk in a few minutes. A bank with security service, a doctor, a pharmacy as well as a café and restaurants can be found in the immediate vicinity as well as the typical Kenyan stalls, with which you absolutely have to bargain, otherwise you will generally buy overpriced.
Also nationally known hospitals are located here such as the Diani Beach Hospital or “The Aga Khan Hospital.
